O Tannenbaum | Boars Head & Yule Log Festival

On Sunday December 7,  2014 we went to Blake's Cider Mill & Farm to select our Christmas tree.  It was sunny, cool, and not too windy---- the perfect day for spending family time together outside.  Oh my goodness, the scent of evergreens, and freshly made cider and donuts wafting in the air was so heavenly.  The best part is that it's less than 20 miles away from where we live.   Erich was more excited about the prospect of cider and donuts rather than the search for a Christmas tree!

Our adventure began with a little drive in the country to Blake's.  Then we took a hayride over to the tree farm singing 'Jingle  Bells' with another family on our way.  We sat nearest to the back of the tractor and the dust and hay blew back at us.  I'm still picking hay out of my purse. Hee haw!  It's all part of the experience.  This gal lived in the country for part of her earliest childhood and really loved it.  I feel like a kid every time I'm in a country setting.

Saw in hands---the boys are prepared to cut a tree down.

While our tree was being processed we bought some cider and donuts.
I snapped a picture of Keith bringing in the tree.
We got home just in time to put the tree in the stand, have something to eat, freshen up and change into our dress clothes---- then we picked Mom up to go to the Boars Head & Yule Log Festival at St. John's Lutheran church.

This is the first time we have gone to the Boars Head Festival.  Mom went last year.  Our friends Dick and Gail from Bethany Lutheran gave us tickets to come.  Erich absolutely loved it.  The festival choir, orchestra and cast were outstanding.  The children in the cast were adorable.  The costumes and props were gorgeous.  I'm so looking forward to going again next year.

'What's-his-name' was busy while we were at the Boars Head Festival.  Thank you little fella for putting the lights on the tree.   Hmmm, maybe having an elf in the house isn't such a bad thing after all.

We shall see in the days to come.

To be continued.....................................
